Editor-in-Chief
Role: Provides academic leadership, oversees editorial policy, and ensures alignment with COPE publishing ethics and standards.
Deputy Editors
Role: The Deputy Editors of the Journal of Applied Research in Law and Economics (JARLE) provide academic and strategic leadership in their respective disciplinary domains. Working closely with the Editor-in-Chief, they ensure that the journal’s interdisciplinary vision — connecting Law, Economics, and the broader Social, Behavioral, and Computational Sciences — is consistently reflected in editorial decisions, peer review integrity, and long-term research impact. Each Deputy Editor supervises submissions, coordinates thematic special issues, and contributes to expanding the journal’s international collaborations and policy relevance.Support the Editor-in-Chief in coordinating thematic areas, special issues, and peer review quality control.
Core Responsibilities of Deputy Editors
Strategic Oversight: Guide the thematic and methodological direction of the journal.
Editorial Leadership: Supervise the work of Associate Editors and reviewers within their domains.
Quality Assurance: Ensure scientific rigor, originality, and ethical integrity in all published work.
Interdisciplinary Integration: Foster cross-domain collaboration among Law, Economics, Data Science, and the Social Sciences.
Outreach and Visibility: Represent JARLE in international research networks, conferences, and policy dialogues.
Ethics and Transparency: Uphold COPE standards and contribute to JARLE’s ongoing alignment with global best practices in scholarly publishing.
All Deputy Editors operate under the direct coordination of the Editor-in-Chief, forming the Editorial Leadership Committee, which: meets quarterly to review journal strategy, performance, and indexing progress; identifies emerging research areas and proposes thematic special issues; ensures balanced representation of disciplines, methodologies, and regions in the publication portfolio.
Deputy Editor for Legal Studies and Jurisprudence: Oversees research related to Law and Economics, Comparative Law, Judicial Behavior, Legal Theory, and Economic Analysis of Legislation. Ensures that legal scholarship is methodologically robust, economically informed, and globally comparative in scope.
Deputy Editor for Economics and Finance: Responsible for Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Development Economics, Behavioral and Experimental Economics, Corporate Finance, and Market Regulation. Promotes the integration of economic analysis into legal and institutional frameworks and ensures quantitative rigor and policy relevance.
Deputy Editor for Political Science, Public Policy, and Governance: Supervises work on Political Economy, Governance Systems, Regulatory Frameworks, and Evidence-Based Policymaking. Encourages contributions that link legal and economic systems with institutional performance and democratic governance.
Deputy Editor for Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Computational Law: Covers Algorithmic Regulation, Legal Analytics, and Machine Learning Applications in Law and Economics.
Ensures that computational approaches adhere to scientific transparency, data ethics, and open science principles (FAIR data standards).
Deputy Editor for Environmental, Sustainability, and Development Studies: Oversees manuscripts addressing Environmental Law, Resource Economics, Climate Governance, and Sustainable Development. Promotes interdisciplinary research aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and JARLE’s sustainability commitments (SDG 4, 8, and 16).
Deputy Editor for Behavioral, Social, and Human Development Sciences: Supervises submissions integrating Sociology, Social Psychology, Behavioral Decision Theory, Education, and Human Development. Encourages innovative interdisciplinary studies on compliance, justice perceptions, and capacity building in legal-economic systems.
Deputy Editor for Philosophy, Ethics, and History of Institutions: Responsible for manuscripts in Philosophy of Law, Ethics, Human Rights, and Historical Institutionalism.
