The objective of this research was to identify the profile and preferences of honeymoon travel consumers, their sociodemographic variables, consumption trend, tourist spending and the attributes that the destination must have to be chosen. The study was carried out in the city of Guayaquil-Ecuador, through the application of a questionnaire. Variant and bivariate techniques were used to analyze the data. The results showed that most of this market segment were young people with tertiary education and good economic income who generally chose Caribbean tourist destinations as a travel option, that is, sun and beach tourism. They also indicated that "romantic", "pleasant climate", "good accommodation" and "affordable prices" were the most important attributes for choosing a honeymoon destination. This study provides useful information for countries, operators, and wholesalers of tourism that work on developing tourism products and promotion strategies focused on attracting this consumer profile.
